full-day workshop (up to 2 people) - £800

Learn the history of the wet plate and acquire the essential skills to make your own images. With your chosen themes, you can produce your personalised wet plates on either glass or metal during the session and take them home.

  • The session will briefly explore the history of wet-plate collodion photography.

  • You will learn about the chemicals used - this is super important, as some can be hazardous.

  • Participants will also receive an introduction to the process itself, watch me create a portrait of you, or a still life… then it’s your turn!

  • You will have the opportunity to create your own plates, whether on tin or glass, with my guidance.

  • The process will be covered from start to finish, including varnishing of the finished photograph. Participants will be able to take home their own unique plates.

  • Continuous support will be provided for those interested in further pursuing wet-plate collodion photography after the workshop.

  • All materials and safety equipment will be provided. The Wet Place Collodion process is hands-on, and sometimes, silver nitrate stains do appear, so wear clothing that you don’t mind getting stained.

The day sessions are around 8 hours.
